SPOTLIGHT: Community Solutions

The fourth installment of our Spotlight Series focuses on Community Solutions. This internationally involved non-profit was developed from an innovations team within Common Ground of New York City, founded by CS president, Rosanne Haggerty. Community Solutions works to end homelessness and multi-generational poverty by solving the various social and economic factors that contribute to this growing issue.

The following are three of Community Solutions' cornerstone initiatives:

  • Zero: 2016 - a rigorous follow-on to the 100,000 Homes Campaign, designed to help a dedicated group of 71 communities do whatever it takes to end chronic and veteran homelessness in the next two years.
  • The Brownsville Partnership - a network of organizations and residents working together to build on existing assets to create solutions to Brownsville's most pressing challenges. Community Solutions coordinates the Brownsville Partnership, which draws on the participation of more than 25 different local groups in Brooklyn, as well as the robust engagement of local community members.
  • The Northeast Neighborhood Partnership - an initiative coordinated by Community Solutions that works in the neighborhood of Northeast Hartford, CT, which suffers from historically high unemployment rates and poor public health. Supported by a broad base of partners, the Northeast Neighborhood Partnership works to improve the health and economic security of residents and the physical condition of the neighborhood.

Community Solutions is among the organizations in our roster that have used the meeting space (for their leadership meetings) and accessed our programs since 1999. For the full list of groups, please visit our website .
