SPOTLIGHT: Creative Capital

Creative Capital has been supporting innovative and adventurous artists across the country since 1999. This non-profit strives to invest in artists who shape the future and seeks to amplify the voices of those working in all creative disciplines. By providing funding opportunities, counsel, gatherings and career development services, Creative Capital has helped countless emerging and established artists realize their visions and build sustainable creative practices.

The organization acknowledges that artists need more than just project funding to complete their visions and pairs networking, counsel and skills-building with a unique approach to grant-making. The Creative Capital Awards are given to artists with innovative and bold project ideas and come with both funding and career development services like marketing, legal and financial support.  With project support, the organization offers a variety of artist opportunities, including funding offered at key stages of the creative process. 

Creative Capital also provides tools and collaboration-building opportunities for people working to gain self-sufficiency as artists, including their 
retreats and gatherings along with exclusive online or in-person peer-to-peer learning workshops for artists to connect with cultural leaders and engage with community. Since 2003, Creative Capital has provided support for more than 18,000 artists in over 800 communities nationwide through workshops and gatherings.
