Description:
The Art Commission is the city's design review agency, responsible for reviewing and approving works of art, architecture and landscape architecture on city-owned property. The Commission, which consists of eleven members, was established in 1898 with the consolidation of the City of New York, and reviews approximately 300 projects annually for their aesthetic appropriateness.

Art Commission Annual Awards for Excellence in Design,Marcus Aurelius Lecture Series, access to Art Commission records is available to scholars on a limited basis, by appointment only.

Project Examples:
We work on hundreds of projects annually. The agency also has initiated numerous exhibitions, publications, and symposia. Please note, we are not a funding organization.
